Beyond birthdays and anniversaries, Awardco gives us a meaningful way to recognize our values, which is honestly my favourite part of the program. Every company has values and a mission statement, but they can be easy to forget in the day-to-day. Awardco helps keep our values top of mind by tying them directly to recognition.

I’ve seen how much recognition has changed since we started using Awardco. From an admin perspective, it’s become so much more manageable and has saved me countless hours. Birthdays, anniversaries, and new-hire milestones are all automated through Workday, new hires get points at 30 and 60 days, and employees are recognized automatically for birthdays and anniversaries.

It’s much more personalized for the person celebrating their anniversary. From an operations standpoint, it’s helped us recognize employees on the actual day that matters most, rather than long after the moment has passed.

We are very intentional about the culture we have built. It is a constant, daily effort. We value integrity and innovation, and we have an incredible culture because of the people we hire. We have a large team of truly talented individuals. They need to know that they are respected, that their work is impactful, and that it means a great deal to those around them.

It’s a fast-paced environment. There’s a great rapport among the team, everyone gets along well, and we can joke about the stressful parts while also making sure to celebrate our big wins together.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can students, families, or community members recognize educators and staff?

Depending on the enabled functionality, organizations may be able to provide an External Recognition™ experience that allows students, families, visitors, customers, or other members of the community to recognize eligible employees.

Organizations can use configured links, QR codes, or other access methods to make recognition available without requiring external participants to have an employee account. Programs should define how submissions identify the intended employee, and each external recognition requires review before it is shared or rewarded.

Can educational organizations offer recognition that fits limited budgets and tax policies?

Yes. Organizations can combine non-monetary recognition with points or other configured reward options and set different award values for different programs, milestones, employee groups, or locations.

Available rewards may include gift cards, products, experiences, charitable options, branded merchandise, or other configured choices. Organizations can also use approval workflows, budgets, catalogs, and reporting to align recognition with internal policies and available funding.

Tax treatment and reporting requirements vary by reward type, employee location, program structure, and applicable law. Finance, payroll, tax, legal, and HR teams should review the program before launch.

Can Awardco automate service awards, onboarding, birthdays, and other recurring programs?

Awardco can use employee data and configured program rules to support automated moments such as service anniversaries, onboarding, birthdays, and other recurring recognition activities.

Automation can help organizations identify eligible employees, apply timing and award rules, send configured communications, and reduce reliance on spreadsheets, calendars, committees, or manual tracking. Organizations may also configure non-monetary recognition for moments where a message or celebration is more appropriate than a reward.

The available triggers, timing, data requirements, and exception handling depend on the organization’s employee-data source and program configuration.

Can central administration maintain oversight while schools, campuses, or departments manage locally?

Organizations can use a centrally governed framework while configuring programs, budgets, permissions, catalogues, or communications for individual schools, campuses, departments, locations, or employee groups.

Central teams can establish shared standards and reporting, while authorized local administrators manage appropriate day-to-day activities within those boundaries. This can support a consistent organization-wide strategy without requiring every location to use identical rules or rewards.

The available hierarchy, permissions, budget controls, and local configuration options depend on the organization’s data, plan, and setup.

Can we recognize teachers, faculty, staff, and other employee groups equitably?

Yes. Organizations can design recognition programs for the employee populations that matter to them, including teachers, faculty, administrators, support staff, facilities and operations teams, hourly employees, adjuncts, part-time employees, and other eligible groups.

Available employee and organizational data can help determine eligibility, program access, award values, budgets, and reporting. This allows organizations to recognize contributions across the workforce rather than limiting recognition to one role or department.

External Recognition™ also opens the door for recognition from those outside your organization (such as parents, students, or school visitors) to teachers and staff. This increases the impact and frequency of appreciation.

Eligibility, segmentation, and reward options depend on the employee data provided, program design, organizational policies, and configuration.

Is Awardco a good fit for schools, districts, colleges, and universities?

Awardco supports educational organizations looking to streamline employee recognition, rewards, milestone programs, incentives, engagement, and reporting into a more consistent experience.

Organizations can start with a focused use case—such as service anniversaries, onboarding, birthdays, or peer recognition—and expand as their goals and resources evolve. A centralized platform helps reduce fragmented processes while allowing the organization to align programs with its workforce, budget, and operating model.

One Awardco client in the education sector, Southern Oregon Head Start, saw an 82% drop in annual attrition after implementation, showcasing the impact recognition can have.
