Previously, every manager hand-wrote a message to their employees every six months thanking them for their hard work, and it was all tied in with the bonus distribution. It was very high-touch, very labor intensive, and we had the process down to a science. We liked the connections that formed between managers and employees as a result of this program, but after COVID-19 most of our workforce went remote. Our semi-annual tradition wasn't possible any longer, nor was it feasible.

When I joined Lockton, we didn’t have a recognition platform. It was the first thing I pushed for—because I’ve seen firsthand how important it is. People want to feel seen and validated.

We were really worried that clinical staff wouldn't be able to log in, being away from their desks. But that hasn't been an issue. Our emergency department senior director, for example, uses it right on the spot. We've seen a strong showing from our clinical departments.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does Awardco automate employee data and HRIS integration?

Awardco can connect with an organization’s HRIS or employee data source to keep employee records up to date. Depending on the organization’s systems and requirements, data can be exchanged through a native HRIS integration, API, SFTP file feed, or another supported connection.

HR teams can typically define the data fields Awardco receives, the sync cadence, and how changes such as new hires, transfers, and departures are handled. This can reduce manual user-file maintenance and help keep eligibility, permissions, reporting, and automated programs aligned with the organization’s current employee data.

How granularly can HR admins control roles and permissions?

Awardco supports configurable roles and permissions so organizations can determine who can access specific administrative functions, programs, budgets, reports, and employee data.

For example, an organization may give a program administrator access to one program, provide a regional administrator access to one country or entity, or give finance and payroll teams broader reporting access. Visibility can also be structured around organizational metadata, such as region, department, or employee group.

This allows organizations to delegate day-to-day administration while maintaining appropriate control over sensitive data and platform settings.

Can Awardco automate onboarding, birthdays, anniversaries, and other employee lifecycle programs?

Yes. Awardco can use employee data and program rules to support automated moments such as onboarding, birthdays, work anniversaries, and service milestones.

Admins can configure the relevant eligibility rules, timing, award amounts, communications, and recipients. Once configured, these programs can run consistently without requiring HR teams to track every employee milestone manually.

How do Awardco approval workflows work?

Awardco can route awards and nominations through configurable approval workflows. Organizations can set rules based on factors such as award type, value, program, employee group, or organizational structure.

Workflows may include one or more approval levels and can direct requests to managers, program owners, budget owners, or other designated approvers. This helps HR teams create consistent review processes while reducing reliance on email-based approvals.

Can manager budgets be created and replenished automatically?

Yes. Organizations can configure manager budgets using rules such as headcount, direct reports, employee groups, programs, or other organizational data.

Budgets may be reloaded on a recurring schedule, such as weekly, monthly, or quarterly, and organizations can define rules for rollover, allocation, and access. This helps HR teams maintain consistent funding without manually calculating and assigning every manager’s budget.

Budget visibility and management can also be limited through roles, permissions, and program configuration.

Can HR teams manage global, regional, and entity-specific programs from one platform?

Yes. Awardco can support centrally governed programs with localized rules and experiences for different countries, regions, entities, or employee groups.

Depending on the organization’s configuration, administrators can use employee data such as country, location, entity, or department to determine eligibility, program access, available rewards, currencies, languages, and redemption options.

This allows global HR teams to maintain a consistent platform while adapting recognition and rewards programs to local organizational needs.

Employee recognition that truly rewards.

Easily celebrate every moment—big or small—that shapes the employee experience.
