Companies that invest in recognition are seen as people-centric. When people feel appreciated for their contributions and are truly engaged, they’re more innovative, more creative, and more willing to think beyond the status quo. This elevates work, fuels stronger business outcomes and can foster deeper customer relationships.

It's a very fast paced environment. There's a lot of rapport between people and everyone gets along really well and we can joke about the things that are maybe stressful, but we also really celebrate the big wins together.

If we retain a teacher, that’s 20 students we get to serve. Going from 45% turnover to 8% means we’ve kept 85–90 more staff. That’s an incredible impact on both our children and our budget.

Prior to Awardco, the recognition process was manual and time-consuming. Everything was done through emails and spreadsheets, with physical delivery of plaques and gifts. Important milestones were sometimes missed, despite our best intentions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does Awardco automate service-anniversary awards?

Awardco can use employee data, including hire dates and service dates, to identify eligible employees and trigger service-award programs automatically. Organizations can configure milestone rules, award timing, communications, and recipients so HR teams do not have to track every anniversary manually.

The available automation depends on the employee data provided, the organization’s configuration, and the programs enabled for the account. Organizations can also establish processes for reviewing corrections, rehires, or changes to service-date information.

Which milestones and recognition formats can we support with Awardco?

Organizations can recognize milestones such as five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, and 25-year anniversaries, as well as other employee milestones that fit your organizations program design.

A service-award program can combine points, gifts, or awards with non-monetary recognition, such as certificates, digital messages, manager communications, or company celebrations. Organizations can choose whether to recognize only major anniversaries or create more frequent moments of appreciation between them.

Can we customize the reward amount and catalog for each milestone?

Yes. Organizations can configure different award values, eligibility rules, and reward options for each milestone. For example, a 10-year anniversary can have a different budget or catalog from a five-year anniversary.

Admins can use curated catalogs, branded merchandise, physical products, gift cards, experiences, charitable options, or other available rewards to create an experience that fits their culture and program goals. Available options vary by country, reward type, and account configuration.

What can employees choose for their service award?

Depending on the organization’s program and location, employees may be able to choose from products, gift cards, experiences, charitable giving, branded merchandise, or other reward options.

This gives employees more flexibility than a single preselected gift and helps organizations accommodate different interests, lifestyles, and locations. The available catalog and any redemption restrictions are determined by the organization’s configuration and applicable requirements.

How are service awards taxed?

Tax treatment depends on the reward type, award value, employee location, and applicable laws and regulations. Some service awards may qualify for different tax treatment than ordinary recognition, while gift cards, cash-equivalent rewards, or other options may be taxable.

Organizations should work with their Finance, payroll, and tax teams to determine the appropriate treatment for each program. Awardco can provide relevant award and redemption data to support the organization’s reporting and payroll processes, but the organization remains responsible for its tax decisions and compliance.

How do employees access and redeem service awards?

Employees can access their service awards through the Awardco experience made available by their organization, including supported web or mobile access. They can review the award, select from the available options, and complete redemption according to the program’s rules.

Organizations can use employee communications and rollout materials to help employees access the program. For employees who do not regularly use work email or sit at a desk, organizations may provide alternative communications such as personal-email outreach, printed materials, QR codes, or other supported channels.

How are physical awards and digital recognition delivered?

Physical rewards can be shipped to an eligible employee using the delivery information and fulfillment options available for that reward and location. Digital recognition, such as a message or certificate, can be coordinated with the award to create a more complete milestone experience.

Delivery timing, shipping availability, tracking, personalization, and packaging depend on the reward, destination, supplier, and program configuration. Employees and admins can use the available order or fulfillment information to monitor the redemption process.

How does Awardco support service awards across countries and regions?

Awardco can support localized service-award experiences for organizations with employees in multiple countries or regions. Depending on the organization’s configuration, programs can account for local reward options, currencies, languages, fulfillment capabilities, and tax considerations.

The available catalog and delivery experience may differ by country. Global programs should be designed with local requirements and the organization’s legal, Finance, payroll, and tax guidance in mind.
