Awardco has been named a leader in the 2026 IDC MarketScape vendor assessment for worldwide employee experience, focused on rewards, recognition, and markers of success, advancing from our 2024 major player placement in IDC's previous evaluation of the category.

IDC is a global market intelligence firm, and its MarketScape series is among the more widely referenced vendor assessment models in global enterprise technology buying.

The IDC MarketScape report measures providers along two axes: capabilities, which evaluates how well a vendor delivers on its strategy today, and strategies, which evaluates how well a vendor's direction aligns with what customers will require three to five years from now. Scores are built from vendor surveys and interviews, publicly available information, and direct end-user experiences.

A worldwide evaluation, weighted toward global delivery

This is a worldwide assessment, not merely a regional one, and the reporting criteria reflects that. A vendor cannot place well on IDC’s MarketScape report on the strength of a single market. The model is built to reward platforms that hold up across borders.

IDC notes Awardco’s global strengths such as availability in 160+ countries, unifying recognition and rewards under a single annual per-employee license with a global marketplace of 300+ million reward options, and available local rewards with fast, convenient shipping. The report also documents 50+ in-platform language translations and a certified Workday integration.

From major player to leader

In 2024 IDC evaluated Awardco as a major player in the category of worldwide employee experience, focusing on rewards, recognition, and markers of success. This year Awardco has been named a leader, highlighting the success of our growth and strategic roadmap.

The movement and momentum matters more than a simple category label. The IDC MarketScape weights forward-looking strategy heavily—scalability, roadmap, financial durability, and continued investment in delivery. Moving into the leaders category reflects an assessment not only of what the platform does today, but of where it is going in the future.

The category itself has also moved. IDC's previous evaluation was framed around rewards, recognition, and belonging. The 2026 evaluation is framed around rewards, recognition, and markers of success—a shift that reflects how recognition data is now being used to inform performance context, behavioral insight, and workforce decisions rather than sitting alongside them.

Awardco's progression tracks that shift into recognition data.

What IDC observed

IDC describes Awardco as a platform that "supports companies to build culture, incentivize performance, and power engagement," and "positions its platform as a culture engine that balances efficiency with high-choice awards."

Among the strengths IDC identified:

  • Zero-markup economics: "Awardco customers highlight its exclusive and native integration with Amazon Business that supports zero rewards markups." IDC notes that the 1:1 point-to-dollar model "conveys the full value of marketplace inventory to the client, eliminating markups and maximizing purchasing power."
  • Budget clarity and ROI: "Administrators note that Awardco's separation of software licensing from rewards budgeting increases the platform's ROI over traditional SaaS pricing." IDC adds that Awardco "does not derive revenue from reward transaction profit sharing and avoids hidden fees."
  • Redemption experience: "Users further call attention to Awardco's redemption process that mirrors everyday ecommerce experiences while providing access to a seemingly endless array of marketplace options."
  • Administrative flexibility: IDC found the administrative dashboard "flexible toward spot bonus triggers, adjustments to point distribution limits, and workflow automation as compared with other platforms that were evaluated during their selection periods."

On where recognition is heading, IDC pointed to an architectural choice: Awardco "embeds performance into the flow of appreciation rather than configuring performance as a separate module."

The platform behind the IDC recognition

The capabilities IDC evaluated reflect a strategic investment over time in Awardco’s global capabilities:

  • Awardco Engage™ was unveiled at RCGNZ Summit 2025 and became generally available in January 2026, bringing employee listening—surveys, sentiment analysis, and real-time dashboards—inside the same platform that powers recognition and rewards.
  • Awardco Intelligence™ followed soon after, extending AI across recognition, the rewards marketplace, engagement, and insights, underpinned by the Motivation Graph, a proprietary data set built from recognition, rewards, engagement, and incentive signals across 3,000+ companies.
  • Awardco Nominations™ launched in 2026, replacing spreadsheet-run award programs with structured, multi-round workflows.
  • The Awardco mobile app launch introduced a native mobile app for iOS and Android so recognition, rewards, and engagement can reach every employee, everywhere.
  • A Workday-certified native integration that syncs employee data bidirectionally to automate workflows, simplify admin tasks, and consolidate feedback.

IDC's evaluation covers all of this and more, along with continued platform investments in upcoming incentives modules for automating behavior-based bonuses and embedded recognition inside Microsoft Teams and Slack.

"Moving from major player to leader reflects the work our customers have pushed us to do—connecting recognition to real outcomes instead of leaving it as a standalone program," said Steve Sonnenberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Awardco. "IDC's assessment validates the direction we've been building toward, and we're just getting started."

What this means for customers

For global organizations evaluating recognition and rewards platforms, IDC's guidance is direct: "Organizations should consider partnering with Awardco when they are looking to eliminate markups as a financial priority while maintaining platform flexibility to configure culture-oriented recognition programs."

For existing customers, the placement means:

  • Independent validation: A third-party assessment from a global research firm, covering both current capability and forward strategy
  • Confidence in direction: Category positioning reflects road map alignment with where the market is heading over the next three to five years
  • Proof of the economics: IDC's strengths analysis centers on the budget transparency and zero-markup model customers already rely on
  • A platform built for distributed teams: Evaluated against criteria that weight global delivery and localization more heavily than any other strategic factor

Recognition is no longer measured only by participation. It is increasingly measured by what it reveals—about performance, retention, and how work actually gets done. Being named a leader in the 2026 IDC MarketScape reinforces Awardco's focus on helping organizations create workplaces where people feel recognized, connected, and motivated to do their best work.
